"ICONS" Kamala Sukosol's Annual Charity Concert
Sukosol Entertainment, the Thai Red Cross Society and Singha Corporation proudly present another not-to-be missed musical event this summer, all in aid of the Thai Red Cross, with every baht generated going to the Princess Sirindhorn Chulalongkorn Craniofacial Center providing care to underprivileged Thai children.
Sinatra, Minnelli, The Beatles. Names that need no introduction, musical icons who, together with a host of other familiar singers and composers, provide the inspiration for this year’s “Icons” Charity Concert Extravaganza.
Featuring Kamala Sukosol, Thailand’s First Lady of Jazz & Swing and a Thai icon in her own right, performing a unique set that pays tribute to such luminaries as the legendary Frank Sinatra, the concert will include a medley of his songs, as well as a number of other jazz icons.
As in previous years, her amazingly talented family will join Khun Kamala, and the audience can look forward to her daughter Marisa demonstrating her astonishing vocal range on Let It Go from the record-breaking film Frozen, as part of a musical homage to Walt Disney. Plus Noi (Krissada) brings his trademark energy to the King of Pop Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror and Smooth Criminal.
Sukie (Kamolsukosol) will also be showcasing his latest exciting musical venture into Electronic Dance Music with a new track called Forever Young and the audience will be among the first in Thailand to meet his newest creation, Monkey Disco Boy!
Fans of Thai music will love special guest Dolchai Boonyaratavej’s version of a Thongchai "Bird" McIntyre classic, as well as delight in a marvelous mother-daughter medley from the newly re-opened Cabaret by one of Khun Kamala’s favourite icons Liza Minnelli, supported by Bangkok’s finest big band orchestra under the direction of Piti Kayoonpan. And don’t miss rousing renditions of The Beatles’ anthem Hey Jude & rock icons Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody performed by the fantastic chorus led by Tanee Poonsuwan.
The audience can also expect a dazzling performance of Spain’s iconic Flamenco from the spectacular dancers from the Aree School of Dance Arts, as well as a special salute to “future icons” that is sure to have guests dancing in their seats, highlighting up-and-coming stars who Khun Kamala predicts will go on to greatness.
The absolute highlight of the concert will see Khun Kamala debuting her newest song The Grand Finale which has an emotional and similarly iconic feel as the ever-popular Live & Learn. This will be performed as a duet with Noi, who wrote the music himself, with the lyrics by Boyd Kosiyabong, who will be making a special appearance.
